Tyrone Mings walking tightrope as Aston Villa duo return for Tottenham clash

Steven Gerrard will have Lucas Digne and Danny Ings back available for this weekend's showdown with Tottenham. Digne was taken off with an upset stomach during the defeat to Wolves last weekend while, for Ings, he was prepared to play but became a father in the early hours prior to kick off.

Gerrard, 41, only named eight substitutes at Molineux with Kortney Hause still sidelined with an abdominal injury. The manager will, however, have some big decisions to make knowing he'll have a near-fully fit squad to choose from for the first time since taking the job back in November.

Last weekend, Gerrard went with Morgan Sanson and Leon Bailey from the start and, when asked about those two surprise selections, said: "Leon (Bailey) gets his opportunity on the back of Danny Ings missing out. Morgan's been training extremely well. He's been patient.

"I have to have a look at Morgan Sanson at some point. I have to put him in and give him an opportunity because he can't keep training well, and we ignore that. That's only fair, so we gave both of them an opportunity."

Gerrard added: "Every game's tough. It's the Premier League. There's no gimmes. Every dual, every opponent you come up against is tough. It's not the time right now to analyse Morgan Sanson's performance.

"For me, the priority is the team. The biggest frustration to me is that we never came to a derby game until half-time. We never really showed that we cared enough until the 70th minute because we wanted to have a war with Wolves because it was all too little too late."
