Digne, Steer, Traore - Aston Villa injury list in full as Steven Gerrard reveals fresh blows
Aston Villa's selection woes are back with Steven Gerrard set to be without four players for the Premier League clash with Leicester City on Saturday (3pm).
Gerrard's Villa travel to the King Power Stadium for their first League game since April 9 and they are only eight points from the relegation zone with four wins from their last four games. The Villa boss has revealed that winger Bertrand Traore will miss the Leicester match with a groin injury and an MRI scan is due on the Burkina Faso star.
Traore's season has been hit with illness and injury as well as participation in January's Africa Cup of Nations tournament. Morgan Sanson, another Villa player who has struggled this season, is set to miss out while Kortney Hause is also unavailable and Luton Town loanee Jed Steer has suffered an Achilles injury.
Meanwhile Lucas Digne remains sidelined after surgery on a broken collarbone sustained in the 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last time out. Marvelous Nakamba could return to the starting line-up, though, after his comeback from a knee injury to the matchday squad for Spurs.
"Lucas is actually out doing a lot of work kicking balls and doing a lot of 1v1 work, but he's obviously had surgery on his collarbone and he can't be around contact for quite some time," Gerrard said. "But I'm hoping and, knowing Lucas, he'll want to make himself available for the last few games of the season, which will be a nice boost for us because he's so important to how we play."
