Two taken to hospital after report of Cardiff assault and man arrested

Two men have been taken to hospital following a report of an assault in Cardiff. South Wales Police confirmed that a 43-year-old man has been arrested and taken for questioning.

The police force said they were called to the scene of a "serious" incident on Clifton Street in Adamsdown at around 9pm on Tuesday evening, July 2. The road is currently closed between Old Street and Silver Street. Half of Sapphire Street and Gold Street are also shut. The closures are expected to remain in force for some time, the police force has confirmed.

In an updated statement at around 10.47pm, a spokesperson for South Wales Police confirmed that the police force was called to an address on the street following a report of an assault. The force also said that two males have been taken to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with "non-life threatening injuries". A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and taken for questioning.

The statement reads: "Just after 9pm today (Tuesday July 2) we were called to an address on Clifton Street, Cardiff following a report of an assault. Two males have been taken to University Hospital of Wales with non-life-threatening injuries. A 43-year-old man from Cardiff has been arrested and has been taken to Cardiff Bay police station where he is being questioned."

As road closures remain in the area, people have been advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible for their journeys as delays are expected in the area.
