'Two sides' - John Terry defends Mason Mount's controversial Manchester United move

John Terry has defended Mason Mount's decision to leave Chelsea and join Manchester United.

The boyhood Blues fan left Stamford Bridge in the summer after a long stand-off with the club around his contract. United swooped in and, after a long period of negotiation, agreed a £55million deal.

Mount has been vilified by Chelsea fans for his decision to leave the club after a high-profile dispute with the club. However, club legend Terry has defended Mount and insisted there are always two sides to a story.

“Mase is proper Chels through and through," Terry said. "There's always two sides to a story and I know the other side to it.

"I’m not going to air that tonight but there’s another side to the story. Let’s not be too harsh on Mason when he comes back [to Stamford Bridge with Man Utd].”

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Mount chalked up 33 goals and 37 assists in 195 appearances, helping Chelsea win the Champions League in 2021.

After lifting the trophy, Mount said: "Chelsea is my blood. I love this club, I love these fans". However, Chelsea fans were left furious after Mount described the Old Trafford dressing room as 'home' following his move to United.
