Two men 'in white van' grab woman on street and try to kidnap her

Two men grabbed a woman on a street in Oldham before threatening her and trying to kidnap her.

The terrifying incident happened at around 8pm last night (Friday). Police said the woman was first approached by the two men at the junction of Lily Street and Godson Street.

They had been driving a 'small white van'. They grabbed her and threatened her, telling her to get in the van, officers said.

A dog walker intervened and the men fled the scene. They drove up Godson Street towards the junction with Crompton Street.

Detectives are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident, or the offenders, to come forward. They are both described as white males aged in their 30s.

The other was around 5ft 5in tall and of skinny build, with blonde hair, a small moustache and stubble. Officers also want to speak to the member of the public who intervened.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area since the attempted kidnap. Chief Inspector Matthew Walker, of GMP’s Oldham district, said: "Since we received the report of this incident, we have been working hard and following multiple lines of enquiry to fully investigate the circumstances.
