Two men arrested after fight near pub - before they're rushed to hospital

Two injured men were arrested and taken to hospital after a fight near to a pub in Salford on Saturday night. Police confirmed officers and emergency services were called to Back Hope Street in Higher Broughton at around 6.30pm last night.

Reports from the scene said paramedics were also called. The Star Inn closed for the night. Greater Manchester Police said two men - both aged 39 - 'left the scene' but were quickly arrested on suspicion of affray.

Injured, they were taken to hospital, but police said their injuries were not thought to be 'life-changing or life-threatening'. Both remained in custody for questioning today, Sunday, a GMP spokesman said. The Star Inn refused to comment.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "At 6:30pm yesterday (Saturday 24 August) we were called to reports of a disturbance on Back Hope Street in Salford. Two men, both aged 39, left the scene but were swiftly detained and arrested on suspicion of affray.

"They were both taken to hospital, but their injuries are not thought to be life changing or life threatening. They both remain in police custody for questioning." No further details have been revealed.
