Two Huddersfield Town players included in list of Championship's top performers

Huddersfield Town are reaching the end of a remarkable season and they are daring to dream about a return to the Premier League. That's something that even the most optimistic Terriers fan wouldn't have been expecting last summer, as the club had finished 20th in the Championship last season and the summer transfer window had seen only loans and free transfers come into the club.

One of those loans, Levi Colwill of Chelsea, has been absolutely exceptional at centre back but two players already at the club from last season, Lewis O'Brien and Sorba Thomas, have starred. Without their performances, Huddersfield' s unlikely run to third in the Championship could not have happened.

Now the two players have been recognised by CIES Football Observatory as two of the top performers in the division. The website aims to offer insights into football and has used various metrics to pull out the 15 best players in the Championship, organised via profile. Thomas and O'Brien find themselves listed with other top names in league, with Aleksandar Mitrovic, Harry Wilson and Antonee Robinson of runaway league leaders, Fulham included.

O'Brien was linked heavily to a move to Leeds United last summer, but a deal was not agreed between the two clubs. The midfielder subsequently signed a new contract and has played 90 minutes in almost every game for the club this season. He has set the standards on the field and weighed in with three goals and three assists from midfield.

Meanwhile, Thomas has been a breakout star in the Championship this season. The 23-year-old had only seven appearances in the division after joining in January of last season but has found his feet at the level in 21/22. He has featured in every league game and scored
