Two Greater Manchester restaurants named among top places to eat in the UK

They're already well established on Greater Manchester's culinary map, but two restaurants have just been named among the best in the UK. The new guide comes from Time Out Magazine, and covers dining establishments across the British Isles.

Time Out rightly states that whilst the capital has a strong roster of restaurants, there are hundreds outside of London that are worth trip. Amongst those included are Ynyshir, a two Michelin-starred restaurant and rooms near Snowdonia National Park and Grace and Savour in Birmingham, a restaurant set within a walled garden which was awarded a Michelin star within a year of opening its doors.

While it spotlights Cumbria, home to the most Michelin stars in the UK outside of London thanks to chef Simon Rogan's culinary skills, the North is well represented in the round-up with two Manchester spots and one Yorkshire haunt making the cut.

Here in Greater Manchester, the two restaurants to make the list are Erst, a natural wine bar and dining spot in Ancoats, and Where the Light Gets In, based over in Stockport and the recipient of a green star for sustainability from the Michelin Guide.

Erst, which is situated just off Cutting Room Square, is described as 'uber cool' by Time Out, with a special mention to some of its best dishes, including 'devilishly salty' anchovies, and grilled flatbreads that 'round off a menu of hits from head chef Patrick Withington'.
