Two-goal hero Boyd signs new Shelbourne deal

Sean Boyd's has had 24 hours to remember as he followed up his FAI Cup double by penning a new contract to keep him at Shelbourne until the end of the 2023 season.

The player arrived at Tolka Park last year after a spell with Finn Harps, and he produced one of his greatest contributions yet as he netted twice in the 3-0 derby win over Bohemians.

Damien Duff’s side will face Waterford in the Cup semi-final on Sunday 16 October, a game that will be screened live by RTÉ2, and Boyd can look forward to that game with next year’s future secured.

"I’m absolutely delighted to have signed a new deal with Shels, from my first day I felt at home at the club so I’m delighted to be at Tolka Park for next season," Boyd told shelbournefc.ie.

"I can’t thank the manager and staff enough for what they have done for me, they have been brilliant all year for me and I’m really loving my football thanks to them, this is an exciting time for the club so there’s no place I’d rather be."

"It has been a great 24 hours for Sean, scoring two great goals yesterday and extending his contract today," Duff added.

"I absolutely believe this is Sean’s home. The staff and players get the best out of him and he has without doubt gone to another level. He is a big part of what we want to build at Shels."
