Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks: Rockstar Games release statement

Rockstar Games have issued a statement regarding the recent incident that took place online over the weekend.

Several images and videos of Grand Theft Auto 6 were leaked online, despite the fact the game is nowhere near ready to be released yet.

Earlier this year, Rockstar Games stated that GTA 6 was in development ahead of its highly anticipated release.

The footage was posted to GTAForums website and was all over Twitter, with plenty of tweets going viral containing the footage. The user who exposed the leaks also claimed to have accessed it by hacking Rockstar’s internal company Slack feed and also had access to their servers.

Despite the main post being taken down now, it has gone on to trend across social media as many gamers anticipate the new release of one of the biggest games of all time.

The user who posted the leaks also threatened to leak the source code for Grand Theft Auto V and the development of GTA 6.

Since then, Rockstar Games have gone on to release a statement.

A Message from Rockstar Games pic.twitter.com/T4Wztu8RW8

“We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorised third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage of the next Grand Theft Auto.

“At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects.

“We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering the experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.

“We will update everyone again soon
