Two arrests as police swoop on homes and business after 40-officer operation

Two men were arrested on suspicion of money laundering after homes and a business were raided in Bolton.

Greater Manchester Police launched the operation after receiving 'intelligence from the public'. Around 40 officers were involved.

Yesterday (April 16), police in Bolton carried out three raids in Farnworth and Great Lever - two at homes and one at a business premises. They seized two vehicles and cash.

Two men - aged 27 and 39 - were arrested on suspicion of money laundering. They have since been released on bail pending further enquiries, a spokesperson for GMP said.

Neighbourhood Inspector Keiron Maddocks said: "The operation has taken around a month to put together and involved more than 40 officers from across Greater Manchester Police. The starting point is the intelligence that comes in from the public, from members of our community, which we're really grateful for.

"It’s a team effort – not just within GMP but with the wider community, and without them we can’t take the action as we did this week. We will always act on information from the public – it may not be immediate as it takes time to develop and plan for action to be taken.

"To report information to GMP, please call the police on 101, talk to us via LiveChat at www.gmp.police.uk or come directly to your neighbourhood policing team. Reports and concerns can also be made anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 11 but always dial 999 in an emergency."
