Videos on social media showed an air ambulance landing at the park earlier on Tuesday, March 15. The air ambulance has been contacted to confirm whether the incidents are connected.

Police officers were also spotted appearing to search through the park with sticks. The cordon covered a section of the park adjacent to Ninian Road and Alder Road. The cordon has now been lifted.

The alleged assault is thought to have taken place in the park, with the arrests occurring in the City Road area. A large police presence had earlier been reported on the busy street.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Two men aged 37 and 41 were arrested in the City Road area at lunchtime today on suspicion of an assault.

"A 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and an area of Roath Park Recreation Ground is cordoned off as part of the on-going investigation.

"The air ambulance, ambulance service and South Wales Police have been approached for comment."
