TV presenter reportedly arrested on suspicion of raping child

Police have arrested a TV sports reporter on suspicion of raping a child, it has been reported. Officers attended the married star's home in a 4am raid earlier this week, it is claimed.

Documents and devices were seized to be examined, according to The Sun. The suspect was reportedly questioned by detectives and held in custody for 18 hours before being released on bail, pending further enquiries. The allegation is said to be historic, involving a child aged under 10 at the time.

It is claimed the minor was raped on more than one occasion. The suspect was reportedly working in the television industry at the time of the alleged offence.

His bosses are said to be aware of the police investigation, but it is thought the suspect's colleagues were unaware. The complainant reportedly made the allegation recently and it was subsequently reported to police.

An investigation was launched after the accuser was interviewed by specialist child abuse investigation officers. Police will now reportedly conduct further inquiries into the suspect's background as part of the process.

A neighbour of the man arrested told the newspaper: "The police turned up very early. They took him away and were there for a while carrying out a search. Everyone is shocked at his arrest.”
