Boy, 15, arrested after driver takes police on 20-mile chase with 'ALL sorts of dirty tricks'

A 'dangerous driver' who led cops on a 20-mile pursuit through Greater Manchester was 15 years old, the Manchester Evening News understands. Dashcam footage captured the moment a 'stolen' car was finally brought to a stop yesterday (June 5).

The driver was seen on the wrong side of the road, driving down the hard shoulder and attempting to go the wrong way around a roundabout as he tried to evade police. It's understood the driver first aroused officers' suspicion as they noticed the car he was driving, a Vauxhall Insignia, had been reported as stolen from Lancashire.

Greater Manchester Police tried to get the driver to pull over, but he made off. The pursuit is understood to have begun in the M6 area of Salford.

The driver led cops into Middleton, where he was seen pulling off reckless manoeuvres. Officers finally managed to bring the pursuit to an end in Hyde, Tameside, the M.E.N. understands.

A 15-year-old boy has since been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving offences. A 17-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

Sharing images from dashcam footage online yesterday, GMP Traffic wrote: "The beginning, middle and end of a lengthy pursuit which took place today, involving this stolen car. The thieves tried ALL sorts of dirty and downright dangerous tactics to get away, but were foiled at every turn by the skills of the police drivers and other supporting colleagues."
