TUI customers baffled by ‘bargain’ £5 seven-day holiday to Santorini

Bargain hunters were left stunned when a holiday to Greece costing just £5.42 per person appeared on Tui’s website. Holidaymakers scrambled to try and bag the unbelievable deal at the Caldera View Resort in Santorini, Greece.

Customers soon took to Twitter to share their find, with one user describing it as the “bargain of the year”. The seven-day holiday - which was listed to leave Manchester Airport on Thursday - said it included bed and breakfast at hotel which has four out of five stars on TripAdvisor.

However, prospective travellers found that when they tried to book the holiday on Wednesday they were met with an error message.

Sharing a screenshot of the deal, Matt R wrote on Twitter: “I mean…talk about last minute deals. Not impressed it keeps crashing when I go to book, sort it out @TUIUK”. Twitter user @CliveinEngland wrote: “@TUIUK can you confirm this please? It seems too cheap to be true. Thank you.”

A Tui spokesperson has since confirmed that the price shown was due to a “technical error”. The holiday itself had already sold out, but the page incorrectly showed it as still available with a £5 price tag.

A spokesperson for the holiday firm said: “Unfortunately, a technical error meant our website was incorrectly showing a holiday package to Santorini for £5. The holiday in question was already sold out and no longer bookable.

“We do offer great value deals but this was unfortunately a technical blip. We appreciate our customers being understanding as our IT teams work to resolve the issue.”
