'Trust the process' - Bacary Sagna makes bold claim over when Arsenal will win the league

Bacary Sagna has boldly predicted Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will win the Premier League title in just two years’ time, and urged Gunners fans to ‘trust the process’.

After succeeding Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium in 2019, Arteta led his side to FA Cup glory in his first season as a manager.

In the league, the Gunners have finished eighth in their last two campaigns under the Spanish coach, though Champions League qualification remains in their hands this season.

Despite their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham in midweek, Arsenal still hold a one-point lead over their north London rivals with two matches left to play.

Arteta was rewarded with a new contract earlier this month, which extends his stay at the club until the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Sagna believes his former Arsenal teammate Arteta will have guided the Gunners to the league title by then.

‘I was worried about how Arsenal were going to perform this season, but they’ve proven me wrong,’ Sagna told The Sun, via Bet 365.

‘There’s clearly a process and fans need to trust the process and keep the faith.

‘Write them off next season if you want, but I’m sure in two seasons time, they’ll be topping the league as champions.

‘If you look at how they played against Manchester City at the Emirates, they outplayed them.

‘Not many teams can do that and to be able to outplay them you have to have a lot of confidence; a lot of quality and I didn’t see any others play this way against City this season.

‘Even Liverpool didn’t take it to them like this, so there are promising signs for the future.’
