Mikel Arteta 'convinced' Arsenal will seal £25m Leicester City transfer

Arsenal are "convinced" that they can sign Leicester City star Youri Tielemans with the hope that an offer of £25m could persuade those at the King Power Stadium to part with their key asset.

The North London outfit have been linked intensely with a move for the Foxes ace having impressed when playing for Brendan Rodgers' side over the past few years.

Tielemans, 25, has scored 24 goals and contributed another 24 in assists from 158 appearances for the Foxes since signing from Monaco - initially on a loan deal - back in January 2019.

The attacking midfielder still has around a year to go until his current deal at the King Power Stadium expires and, according to the Mirror, the Foxes "will consider selling this summer rather than losing the Belgian for nothing".

Both Arsenal and Manchester United remain interested in the 25-year-old, but the Gunners are "convinced" they can persuade Tielemans to drop Leicestershire for the Capital with an offer claimed to be around £25m.

Tielemans is reportedly understood to still want a move to Arsenal despite them missing out on the Champions League.

“You always have to (make plans for a player's exit), that is key,” Rodgers said when discussing player transfers back in January. “I have said it before about the pipeline of players; you always have to be looking ahead, that's important.

“Sometimes it happens unexpectedly, other times you know where the situation is at.

“We will always look for the type of player who suits how we work. That’s always been the case and it will be the same with any player in any position. If we are going to lose one we have to be ready for the next one to come in.”
