Trump to face close friend Selt in Turkish Masters final

Judd Trump brushed aside Shaun Murphy to reach his second consecutive ranking final at the inaugural Turkish Masters in Antalya.

Six days after suffering defeat in the Welsh Open final to Joe Perry, Trump will face his close friend Matt Selt for the title after Selt edged Ding Junhui 6-5.

Trump had fought through two final-frame deciders to reach the last four in Turkey and looked set for another tough night after Murphy moved into a 2-1 lead.

But Trump responded by reeling off five frames in a row and admitted to great satisfaction at the way in which he had managed to respond to his recent setback.

Trump said in his post-match interview: "When I got here I was super tired and mentally it was very draining - I can take an immense sense of pride from getting to the final again.

"I had some shocking performances early this week but managed to survive. My will to win is second to none. I had to give it absolutely everything to get through those games."

Selt held his nerve to reach the second ranking final of his career, having previously won the Indian Open title in 2019.

The 37-year-old swept into a 3-0 lead but Ding, showing some of his best form in recent years in Turkey, coolly reeled off the next four frames to wrest control.

When the match went down to a decider, Selt was not made to pay for missing a black off its spot and ultimately held firm to reach the final.

"At 4-3 down it wasn't looking good, I just wanted to book a flight and go home," admitted Selt.

"I could have gone out in the first round here - Alexander Ursenbacher had chances to beat me, but luckily for me he didn't take them and now I'm in the final."
