In a moving tribute to Jo, his sister Nancy Rose said: “My family and I are devastated by the sudden loss of my wonderful brother, Jo Rose. He was relentlessly kind, with an incredible talent for music and songwriting.
“He had a rare capacity for being profoundly thoughtful but also profoundly silly. We have been so touched by the tributes from the many, many people who knew and loved him.”
Remembering Jo, his friend fellow musician Liam Frost said he first met Jo in around 2004 when he burst onto the Manchester music scene with his band Fear of Music.
Liam said at the time Jo was still in highschool and was like a ‘little brother’ to him, saying he took Jo under his wing despite him being ‘quietly one of the most intelligent people’ he had ever met with an ability to write music far beyond his years.
He added: “Jo was such a sweet person. In a business and community where you meet people that might not be the greatest, Jo was continually one of the sweetest people to be around. It’s a really big loss to the community, he’s going to be so missed.”
Liam said he and Jo shared stages at club
