Tributes paid to well known 'legend' motorcyclist killed in horror crash

Tributes have been paid to a 'local legend' motorcyclist known for taking his beloved dog around in a sidecar. Steven Spark tragically died in a horror crash in Cheshire last Friday (June 14).

The 63-year-old had been riding an orange BMW motorbike and sidecar when it hit a stationary Honda Jazz on The Village in Burton, near the border with Deeside. Emergency services treated Steven at the scene, but he sadly died a short time later despite their best efforts.

In a statement issued today (Tuesday), Steven's family paid tribute to the 'larger than life character' who will be 'sadly missed'. The statement said: "The local community mourns the tragic death of a recognisable local legend Steven Spark.

"He was well known for riding different motorbikes and sidecars with his dog Duke in the sidecar. He would always nod and wave to locals when passing. He was a larger than life character who rode his bikes most days, going on the same journey passing through the same villages becoming familiar to all the local residents.

"He was well known amongst the biking community as well as the dog walking community. The amount of tributes to him have been overwhelming and he will be sadly missed by family, friends, neighbours and the countless others that knew him.

"The family would like to thank everyone who helped at the scene of the accident and to our amazing emergency services. They would also like to thank everyone for their kind words and tributes."

Cheshire Police says Steven's family is being supported by specialist officers. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information about the collision is being urged to come forward.
