Traveller warns never to pack item in luggage after she was refused flight entry

A British traveller claims she was refused entry to a flight in Peru after she packed a portable charger in her checked luggage.

Cody Stanley, one half of the travel blogger duo @fortheplot, shared a public service announcement warning against making the same mistake she did.

Cody has been travelling Central and South America with her best friend Ellie Blake, with the two set to make their way from Lima, Peru, to Quito in Ecuador. In a recent TikTok video, Cody implored holidaymakers to be aware of the prohibited items in checked in baggage.

The traveller accidentally packed a portable charger into her luggage, which meant she wasn’t allowed to catch her flight to Ecuador with Ellie. She explained that her best friend had to make the flight without her.

She captioned the video: “DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. Portable chargers are not allowed in checked baggain on flight READ IT AGAIN.”

In the video she said: “If you’ve seen me on your ‘For You Page’ before I was probably with a blonde girl called Ellie, who’s my best friend. But me and Ellie aren’t together right now because I wasn’t allowed to get on my flight to Quito with her, so she had to go without me and I’ve been stuck in Lima in Peru for the past two days.”

Cody continued to explain what mistake she made: “I had a portable charger in my checked luggage and I didn’t realise it was in there, it’s not normally in there it’s normally in my little bag. But it’s my fault, I take responsibility, but I forgot.

“They wouldn’t let me get it out my bag and they wouldn’t let me get on my flight, so make sure you never, ever, ever put a portable charger in your checked baggage.”
