Transfer insider shares "great news" for Manchester United in bid to land £43m deal

Manchester United signing Christian Eriksen could help them in their bid to land Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils are set to bring the Denmark international to Old Trafford, and Jones says that will send the right message to other targets like Martinez, who want to be reassured that the club are building a squad to compete.

The Athletic recently reported that Eriksen has verbally agreed to join United this summer.

The 30-year-old attacking midfielder is a free agent following the expiration of his Brentford contract.

If Erik ten Hag gets his way, then Eriksen and Martinez could be lining up in the same United starting XI this upcoming season.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Red Devils and Ajax have held talks about the Argentine, who the Dutch club value at £43m.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that United’s targets want assurances over other signings being made, hence why Eriksen’s addition could be crucial in the race for Martinez, who is also believed to be on Arsenal’s radar.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “With Eriksen pretty much done, that’s great news for them, especially with Lisandro Martinez. Every person United are trying to sign has wanted assurances that somebody else was coming in at the same time as them or quickly after.”

Eriksen and Martinez would be perfect additions for United if they can get both deals done.

Eriksen obviously has a wealth of Premier League experience and is a very productive player. In his senior career, the former Inter Milan and Tottenham man has scored 110 goals and provided 162 assists, according to Transfermarkt.

As for Martinez, he is someone Ten Hag knows
