Gary Neville and Roy Keane disagree over the role Christian Eriksen could play for Manchester United this season.

Eriksen, 30, was signed by Erik ten Hag on a free transfer after his short-term spell at Brentford came to an end. He bolsters the United squad along with fellow additions Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez, as Ten Hag continues to move for other targets such as Barcelona playmaker Frenkie de Jong.

Whether or not De Jong pitches up at Old Trafford could have an impact on how much game-time Eriksen is given, but the Dane generally operates in a more attacking position than the Barcelona man. However, it has been left up Neville to dispel concerns from Keane about how much Eriksen will add to the group.

Predicting what would happen to Eriksen on The Overlap this summer, Neville said: "I think Eriksen will get plucked by a big club. I tell you what, if you were any top six club that's looking at a midfield three and you wanted a player to go in there and play 30 games for you in a squad-type [situation], you would [take him].

"He could play for Manchester City and he could play for Liverpool. He could play for any of the top six.

"I'm not saying [to be] starting every week, but he could come on. Why would you not look to him to come in for two seasons and do a job for you doing that? He's brilliant. He's a brilliant pro, he's a great player, his quality on the ball is unbelievable."
