Transfer insider: ‘Conte factor’ could now tempt ‘brilliant’ colossus into Tottenham move

Transfer insider Dean Jones says he’d be surprised if defender Denzel Dumfries joins Tottenham this summer, but Antonio Conte could be the man to make it happen.

The 26-year-old has recently been linked with a move to the Lilywhites after reports have claimed that the Premier League giants are interested in completing a deal for the right-back once the transfer window reopens.

The Italian source further states that the Serie A outfit would be open to selling their colossus to Spurs for a fee believed to be in the region of €40m (£33m), but the Lilywhites will face competition from Bayern Munich.

Jones believes that having Conte in charge gives Spurs a chance to snap Dumfries up, but claims Daniel Levy will have a difficult job on his hands trying to lure the 32-cap international to the capital, as a result of him only joining Inter at the end of last season.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “He scored a massive goal for them last weekend. From what I can tell, he seems happy with where he is, and he’s new to the club. It would be surprising to see him turn his back on Inter so quickly and seek a new challenge.

“Maybe the Conte factor would be enough to do that, but I still think it would take a big sales pitch to get Dumfries at this stage to join a Tottenham team who aren’t as good as Inter Milan are.”

With rumours that the Italian manager is targeting six new signings ahead of the start of the new campaign, one of those being a right wing-back, it wouldn’t come as any surprise to see Paratici pursuing a move for Dumfries in the coming months.
