Traffic STOPPED on M60 and queues build on M61 following crashes
All traffic was stopped on part of the M60 following a crash. There has been stationary traffic on the clockwise M60 near to junction 24 at Denton Island this morning (January 2).
It follows a collision which was reported at around 9.30am. All traffic is now moving again.
The incident is one of two affecting Greater Manchester's motorways this morning. Drivers heading south on the M61 from Lancashire towards Bolton were also facing queues.
It follows a crash between junctions eight at Chorley and six at Horwich. The road was partially blocked, according to Inrix.
There was slow traffic approaching the scene. The incident has since cleared. Drivers are being urged to take care on the roads this morning.
A Met Office weather warning for ice remains in force, following a day of floods in the region yesterday. Temperatures plummeted overnight and a 'major incident' was declared on New Year's Day.

Queues remain on the M60.
Both the M60 and M61 have been hit with delays following collisions this morning.
It's understood traffic was stopped on the M60 at Denton Island for around 30 minutes following a collision.
The road is now moving again, with the incident moved to the hard shoulder.
But queues remain approaching the scene on the clockwise carriageway.
Meanwhile, drivers are facing delays on the M61 southbound, following a crash between junctions six and eight.
