TOWIE star Dan Edgar admits Joey Essex gave 'advice' for Dancing On Ice as he says 'way out of my comfort zone'

ITV's Dancing on Ice is returning on Sunday night with a fresh batch of celebs ready to take on the challenge.

The Only Way is Essex star Dan Edgar has been gearing up for the 17th series of the ice show, and has been paired with professional skater Vanessa James Amoros.

Vanessa first joined the show in 2024 with retired British track and field athlete Greg Rutherford who unfortunately withdrew from the competition after he sustained an injury.

Prior to appearing on television, Dan worked as an electrician before joining the cast of TOWIE in 2015.

During his time on the show, he became known for his tumultuous relationships with various cast members, including Lauren Pope, Jess Wright, Chloe Sims, Amber Turner, and Ella Rae Wise. He joked that he doesn't think the girls of TOWIE will come to show support, as he admitted: "I may have burnt my bridges with them."

Speaking about why he signed up for the show, the star revealed: "I’ve always been able to ice skate, I can’t dance but I can get about on the ice. It’s the dancing I’m a bit worried about because if you see me on the dance floor, it’s almost non existent, it’s terrible." Before adding that the show is "way out" of his comfort zone.

Fellow TOWIE star Joey Essex took part in the 15th series of Dancing on Ice back in 2023, finishing in second place to Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson and Olivia Smart. Nile being the first male skater to perform the dangerous manoeuvre "the headbanger" on the show.

Dan shared that Joey is "a very good friend of mine", adding, "he's given me a bit of advice" and that hopefully he'll come and support him. Other TOWIE stars Diags (James Bennewith) and Lockie (James Lock) "will be there for sure" the star confirmed.
