Tottenham 'will do everything' to keep £20m-a-year man at Hotspur Way

Tottenham “will do everything they can” to ensure that Antonio Conte stays at the club this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Conte has been at Spurs for just under six months after signing a £20m-a-year deal in November, but he has already been linked with a move away from the north London club.

The Italian coach has put Tottenham in contention for a top-four finish and a return to the Champions League. However, a switch to PSG could be on the cards in the near future.

According to Le Parisien, via Marca, Conte has offered himself to PSG on a two-year deal to replace Mauricio Pochettino at the helm.

Pochettino is expected to leave PSG soon, despite his side winning Ligue 1 at a canter this season.

O’Rourke thinks Tottenham will be desperate to keep hold of Conte rather than losing him after such a short stint at the club.

He also feels the 52-year-old appears to be happy at Spurs, so would be surprised to see him jump ship at this stage.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Spurs will do everything they can to keep Antonio Conte, and I think Conte is enjoying himself at Spurs, and seems happy there. So, it would come as a surprise.”

The final few weeks of the season could be crucial in determining Conte’s future.

It looks set to be a straight shootout between Tottenham and Arsenal for fourth spot, and if Conte’s side can pip their rivals to the final Champions League place, this could be enough to convince Conte to stay.

However, Conte is not known for his patience, and if Spurs miss out on Europe’s elite club competition, he might decide that he doesn’t want to stick around to manage the Premier League outfit in the Europa
