Tottenham vs Newcastle United team news as Saint-Maximin starts, Bruno on bench
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe handed Jonjo Shelvey the captain's armband on his return from illness at Spurs. The Magpies went with the former Charlton Athletic man, Joe Willock and Joelinton in midfield while Allan Saint-Maximin was back in the starting line-up.
Howe opted to rest Bruno after he returned from international duty in South America with Brazil this week but New Zealand striker Chris Wood led the frontline. There was still no place for club captain Jamaal Lascelles with Fabian Schar declared fit after an abductor problem and placed alongside Dan Burn in the heart of defence.
Saint-Maximin was named in the starting line-up for the first time since a calf knock and illness. You can follow the game as it happens in our live match blog here.
