Tottenham transfer news: Paratici gunning for Newcastle ace Saint-Maximin to offset double exit

Tottenham are mulling a raid on Newcastle to sign Allan Saint-Maximin with talk over a double exit in the forwards ramping up, per reports.

The Magpies talisman, 25, is near-unplayable on his day. His goals and assists returns remain conspicuously modest, though the Frenchman previously indicated those tallies will soar when playing alongside better players.

Saint-Maximin concluded the last campaign with five goals and five assists in the league. While those figures are a far cry from the likes of those provided by Son Heung-min, his direct dribbling and quick feet ensure defenders are never given an easy ride.

The Daily Mail recently claimed Tottenham were sizing up a transfer approach this summer. The round figure of £50m was deemed required to bring Newcastle to the table.

Football London have now doubled down on those claims, and recent reports over a double Spurs exit go some way to explaining their interest.

The outlet state Spurs chief Fabio Paratici is ‘weighing up a move’ for Saint-Maximin. The Italian is labelled a ‘big admirer’ of the skilful forward.

Spurs can already call upon Harry Kane, Son and Dejan Kulusevski in a star-studded front three. Lucas Moura is also on the books, while Ivan Perisic has arrived from Inter Milan.

Yet Perisic is expected to slot in at left wing-back and recent reports have tipped Bryan Gil and Steven Bergwijn to depart this summer.

Gil is a target for both Valencia and Real Sociedad. The latter are able to satisfy a particular demand Spurs have regarding Gil.
