Gabriel Agbonlahor tips Villa to sell Davis this summer

Keinan Davis has returned following his short-term loan spell at Nottingham Forest but but could be on his way out of Aston Villa this summer as he’s surplus to requirements under Steven Gerrard.

The 24-year-old struggled for playing time this season and was loaned out to Forest in January. He impressed at the City Ground, helping then achieve promotion to the Premier League, so a permanent move has been mooted.

Davis is open to making the switch this summer and will be granted a move if his £15m asking price is met. Gabriel Agbonlahor believes the transfer would suits all parties but will depend on whether Forest are content with the 24-year-old or have their sights set on a bigger name.

He told Football Insider: “It all depends on Forest. (The Reds) have got the whole world to look at now they are into the Premier League. The good thing about Davis is that he will not demand big wages. It makes sense at a £15million fee and for Villa as well.”

Davis joined the Midlands outfit from Biggleswade Town in 2015 and has gone on to make 86 appearances in all competitions, scoring just six goals with a meagre seven assists.

The writing has been on the wall for a while, as playing time dried up for the 24-year-old since Villa returned to the Premier League – 538 minutes of PL football in 2019/20, 263 minutes of PL football in 2020/21 and 11 minutes of PL football in 2021/22.

Davis scored five goals with three assists from 22 games across the board for Forest, but it remains to be seen if he’ll turn the move permanent – Forest will be able to attract quality to the City Ground following their promotion.
