Tottenham transfer news: £15m RWB target 'easier to get than Lamptey', bids already tabled

Tottenham will find it easier to sign Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence than Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey, says transfer insider Pete O’Rourke.

The north London club have been linked with both defenders, but O’Rourke thinks they have a better chance landing the former.

According to ESPN‘s James Olley, Tottenham had two bids for Spence rejected last month as Antonio Conte looked to bring in a new right-back.

The 21-year-old, who Middlesbrough are thought to value at £15m, is currently at Nottingham Forest on loan and has impressed there, recently earning a 7.31 match rating on WhoScored following his side’s 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.

As well as Spence, Tottenham are also thought to be interested in Lamptey, with the Evening Standard claiming that they could make a move for him in the summer.

Lamptey missed most of last season and the beginning of this campaign due to a hamstring injury, but the English youngster is fit again and has seemingly caught the attention of Conte.

O’Rourke has told GIVEMESPORT that Tottenham will find it easier to sign Spence than Lamptey when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

Speaking to GMS about Spurs’ interest in the two young full-backs, the football journalist said: “Djed Spence might be easier to get than Lamptey. Brighton will be looking for a big price tag for his signature I think, while Middlesbrough would be more willing to let Djed Spence go.”

Conte will certainly think so. It was widely reported last month that the Italian was keen on signing Adama Traore to strengthen his side in the right wing-back position.
