Tottenham transfer latest: John McGinn offered advice as Antonio Conte rumours grow louder

Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn has been told how he can take his game to the next level if he makes the move to Tottenham this summer.

Antonio Conte is looking to truly make his mark on the Spurs squad this summer with a number of key additions. He brought in just Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur in January, despite chasing a number of other signings. And while he was frustrated, Conte has managed to make serious strides with his Tottenham squad.

Indeed, they just a point at relegated Norwich on Sunday afternoon to confirm their place in the Champions League again. They last competed in the competition back in 2019 when they reached the final.

And after playing in the Conference League this season, a return to Europe’s top table will be most welcome.

That will help Conte bring in a number of top targets this summer. The club are reportedly looking at a potential deal for Paulo Dybala, who becomes a free agent this summer. Indeed, securing a top-four finish gives Spurs a genuine chance of pipping Arsenal to his signature.

However, the first pieces of business Conte will get done this summer is to secure the permanent signings of Kulusevski and Cristian Romero.

While the duo will cost a combined £68m, the signing of Kulusevski, in particular, makes plenty of sense. Indeed, Spurs will get a discount on his signing by activating his permanent transfer early.

Conte also wants to bolster his midfield engine room too.

To that end, Spurs are being strongly linked with a move for Aston Villa’s McGinn.

The Scotsman is one of the most coveted Premier League midfielders outside the top six clubs, with some excellent displays in midfield.

Rated at £40m, the Daily Telegraph claims Conte is keen to bring him to north London.
