Tottenham transfer latest: Conte tipped to ditch Djed Spence interest and move for Dortmund man instead
Tottenham have been tipped to ditch their proposed move from Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence in favour of a swoop for Borussia Dortmund star Thomas Meunier.
Spurs are on the brink of announcing deals for experienced duo Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster. However, more signings are expected to follow in a major shake-up of the first-team squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spence has long been touted for a switch to north London, with rivals Arsenal are keen on a deal.
However, after he secured promotion to the Premier League on loan at Nottingham Forest, the 21-year-old is now being tipped to make a permanent switch to the City Ground.
But that could be good news for Tottenham, according to Sky Sports’ Joe Thomlinson.
He believes that Conte should be chasing a more experienced player like Meunier instead, not Spence.
Thomlinson told Football Daily’s Sunday Vibes: “We’ve seen him do it everywhere he’s gone, Conte – he signs players that are upwards of 26 that have been proven at European and elite league level. I’d be incredibly surprised to see a player like Djed Spence arrive at Tottenham.
