Djed Spence contact 'expected' as Nottingham Forest loanee IS Tottenham 'priority'

Former Nottingham Forest full-back Djed Spence is reportedly 'expected' to receive new contact from Tottenham Hotspur next week as no negotiations are due to take place over this weekend.

The 21-year-old was been heavily linked with a move to north London over recent weeks after impressing on loan at the City Ground from Middlesbrough last season. In spite of such rumours, no official bid is said to have been made to the Championship club by Spurs.

That is also despite other reports suggesting that the Reds are set to end their interest in the England under-21 international. Spence's season finally ended on Monday following three European Championship qualifiers, which James Garner was also involved in.

This latest update comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has offered a timeline ahead of next week. "Djed Spence deal. No negotiations this weekend, Tottenham are really interested since March but still no official bid, new contract expected next week," Romano tweeted. "Right back* and centre back, two priority for Spurs on the market."

With Spence returning to the North East, Forest have been linked with a number of potential replacements at right wing-back. Liverpool's Neco Williams, who is an international colleague of Brennan Johnson and spent last season and loan at Fulham, as well as Manchester City full-back Issa Kabore.
