Tottenham: 'Strong possibility' that 'phenomenon' joins in summer

Tottenham have a good chance of signing Paulo Dybala this summer if the Argentine playmaker wants to move to England, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Juventus forward has spent the last decade in Italy, but there is a distinct possibility that he could leave Serie A this summer.

Dybala is out of contract at Juventus in June, and he has been discussing a new deal with the club in recent months.

It has been reported that Dybala verbally agreed a contract extension back in October, but the Serie A giants have since changed their stance, and the 28-year-old is not happy with their latest proposal.

Therefore, he is expected to start talking to other clubs soon, and is set to leave Juventus at the end of the season.

Tottenham tried to sign Dybala back in 2019, and appeared to be very close to getting a deal done, only for the transfer to fall through at the last minute.

With Dybala now almost certain to depart Juventus in the coming months, O’Rourke believes Spurs could renew their interest in the attacker, and he has tipped them to be one of the favourites to land him this summer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O’Rourke said: “I think if there’s a chance that Dybala does come to the Premier League, I think there’s a real strong possibility that Spurs could be leading the hunt for him.”

Dybala has scored 13 goals in all competitions this term, and it is less than two years since he won the Serie A MVP award for his exploits in the 2019/20 season. It is hard to dispute his level of talent, with Diego Maradona previously labelling him as a “phenomenon.”
