Tottenham 'should definitely be in the reckoning' for Raphinha

Tottenham should put themselves in the reckoning to sign Leeds United star Raphinha if he becomes available this summer, says journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 25-year-old has impressed this season and continues to be heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road.

According to Goal, Raphinha is holding off talks over a new contract as he weighs up his options.

With his current deal not expiring until 2024, Leeds are not in any immediate danger of losing him on a free transfer, but the Yorkshire club still have to be wary of interest from some of Europe’s biggest outfits.

The Daily Mirror reported back in December that both Liverpool and Bayern Munich are interested in Raphinha, while other reports suggest that Chelsea are also keen on the Leeds winger.

As per Sportitalia, the European champions are in the race to sign the in-demand attacker and are eyeing up a summer deal.

O’Rourke, though, would like to see Tottenham make a real attempt to sign Raphinha after losing out on Luis Diaz to Liverpool.

When asked by GIVEMESPORT if Spurs could see him as an alternative to the Colombian, the transfer insider said: “If Raphinha is available and clubs think they can get him, Spurs should definitely be in the reckoning as well.”

As well as Liverpool, Bayern and Chelsea, West Ham could also enter the fray to sign Raphinha in the summer.

The Brazilian was of interest to the east London club last month, with 90min claiming that they had a £50m bid rejected for him.

Raphinha, described as “unplayable” by Adam Pope last month, has arguably been Leeds’ standout player this season, making it no surprise that several outfits are chasing his signature.
