Tottenham news: Tomas Soucek linked with summer move and Spurs linked with trio of centre-backs

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been offered the chance to sign West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek. The 27-year-old Czech international is under contract at London Stadium until 2024, but talks over a near deal appear to be at an impasse.

According to a report from Football Insider, Soucek doesn't enjoy a good relationship with Hammers boss David Moyes, and Spurs have been offered the chance to sign the Czech international through agents. However, a deal is considered unlikely due to the historical relationship between the boardrooms of both clubs, caused in part by tensions over the London Stadium.

Soucek enjoyed a superb campaign in the 2020/21 season, scoring ten Premier League goals from midfield. His form dipped last term with just five top-flight goals. Nevertheless, he would provide competition and cover for Spurs if they could get a deal over the line.

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on signing two centre-backs this summer to bolster Antonio Conte's squad and fill some expected gaps.

Conte wants at least two new centre-backs to arrive at Spurs during the coming transfer window, particularly if either Joe Rodon or Japhet Tanganga head out of the club in the next two months in search of regular football. The head coach and Tottenham's managing director of football Fabio Paratici discussed their planned targets at a meeting in Turin on Friday.

The priority first is a left-sided centre-back for the back three to provide competition for Ben Davies, who was Conte's only real choice in that role last season.
