Tottenham man told to choose Celtic transfer over Leicester City in summer window

Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has been told to choose a permanent move to Celtic over a transfer to Leicester City.

Reports last month claimed that City were one of the teams interested in a summer move for the 24-year-old. He has caught the eye on a season-long loan with Celtic this season, playing 39 times in all competitions for the club.

His performances mean that Celtic are keen on doing a deal with Tottenham over a permanent deal when the summer transfer window opens. Those plans could be disrupted by interest from clubs south of the border, including City.

Amid the speculation over the USA international’s future, former Rangers full-back Richard Foster has sent some transfer advice to the player. "Those teams - Leicester, Burnley and Wolves - I personally don't get why he'd leave Celtic to go and play at those clubs,” he told the PLZ Football Show.

"Stay at Celtic, win championships, play in the Champions League. I just think go and play in the Champions League and do well, and you'll get a better move than a Wolves or Burnley."

However, another former Scottish Premiership man Tam McManus did pick out City as the main competition for Celtic for one reason. "I agree but Leicester - I'd maybe go to Leicester," he said.

"I think he could get £80,000 a week at Leicester. How much would he get at Celtic, £30,000?"

The debate comes after Brendan Rodgers said that City could look at players struggling for gametime at the ‘big six’ clubs as part of their ‘healthy shakeup’ in the summer transfer window. Carter-Vickers falls into that category at Spurs.
