Tottenham: 'Long-standing association' could see them land 111-cap PL winner

Tottenham Hotspur’s recent transfer dealings show they have a ‘long-standing association’ with Juventus amid interest in Juan Cuadrado, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Ex-Juve boss Antonio Conte took charge of Spurs last November and could look to freshen up his squad during the summer transfer window.

It appears Cuadrado’s time in Turin is coming to an end as his £152,000-per-week contract is set to expire in the summer.

According to respected Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, uncertainty over the right-back’s future has put Tottenham on red alert.

Galetti claims Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici, who worked with Cuadrado during his time at Juventus, ‘would be glad to welcome him’ to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and has already got in touch with the 33-year-old’s agent despite his ‘priority’ being to sign fresh terms with his current employers.

Spurs and other suitors outside of Italy have been in a position to persuade Cuadrado to pen a pre-contract agreement since the turn of the year.

Cuadrado’s precarious contract situation has not had a major impact on his game-time with the Serie A giants as he has been a regular starter this season and, in that time, shown his attacking threat by chalking up five goals and four assists.

O’Rourke believes Spurs have a close relationship with those working behind-the-scenes at Juventus.

Paratici was a key decision-maker at the Allianz Stadium prior to being appointed as Tottenham’s managing director last June and has since returned to Turin to sign Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

O’Rourke feels that could boost the north Londoners’ chances of coming to an agreement
