Tottenham 'keeping tabs' on 305-game former star who could return to Hotspur way

Tottenham are keeping tabs on Christian Eriksen this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 111-cap Denmark international is back in the Premier League after joining Brentford in January, but only signed a short-term contract with the Bees and could be available for a transfer this summer.

Eriksen has already ended any potential conversation about him not being able to perform at top-flight level anymore following his sickening cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at the Euros having enjoyed a fine return to English football.

The attacking midfielder has already made himself a regular in Thomas Frank’s side, and it’s little surprise considering Brentford have taken maximum points in each of the four league games that he’s started.

In his six appearances, he’s directly contributed to two goals, and has been the Bees’ second-best player this season behind Ivan Toney, according to WhoScored.

Eriksen averages 1.4 key passes every 90 minutes, which is the most in the Brentford squad, while only Bryan Mbeumo and Toney get more shots away than the Dane.

As a result of Eriksen’s impressive form, Tottenham are keen on bringing him back to north London, a little more than two years after he left to join Inter Milan having turned out 305 times for the Lilywhites.

The report says that Frank’s side are hopeful of extending his stay at the club, but Spurs are one of many top-flight clubs tracking his progress.
