Tottenham 'in talks' over shock move for £34m star at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur ‘definitely’ still have ‘a chance’ of signing Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech in the final hours of the window, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Antonio Conte is believed to be in the market for attacking reinforcements and could make a shock move by raiding his former club for the frustrated 29-year-old.

Football.London have reported that Chelsea are open to selling Ziyech ahead of tonight’s 11 pm deadline should a suitable offer arrive for him.

It’s claimed that reigning Serie A champions AC Milan had an offer worth €25 million (£21), with €5m (£4.2m) to be paid this year and €20m (£16.8m) the next rejected earlier in the summer.

And it looked as though Ziyech was close to re-joining his old side Ajax until the move collapsed, with the Dutch giants opting to bring in Lucas Ocampos instead.

However, Spanish outlet Revelo (via the Evening Standard) have now claimed that Tottenham are in the running for the creative talent’s signature.

Ziyech arrived at Stamford Bridge in a £34m deal back in July 2020, but Chelsea could now be prepared to sanction his sale for significantly less following his struggles in west London.

Phillips believes that Ziyech’s move across the capital could hinge on the Blues being able to bring in another attacker first with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay on their radar.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “There is a chance, but Chelsea want a permanent deal.

“And they have been in talks with Tottenham today over Ziyech, and there’s definitely a chance that could happen. But it all depends on Chelsea getting that second attacker as well. So, it’s kind of a domino effect on that one.”
