Tottenham: Hugo Lloris showed class with Dele Alli after 5-0 win vs Everton
Hugo Lloris showed his class with former teammate Dele Alli, who returned to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Everton on Monday night.
Dele, who spent seven years with Spurs before leaving the north London club in January, came on with 20 minutes remaining in place of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
However, Everton were 5-0 down at the time. A brace from the in-form Harry Kane plus further goals from Son Heung-min and Sergio Reguilon, and a Michael Keane own goal, earned Antonio Conte’s side a deserved and impressive three points.
On the other hand, it’s obviously a terrible result for Everton and their recently-appointed manager Frank Lampard.
The Toffees now find themselves 17th in the Premier League table, just one point outside of the relegation zone.
They do, however, have one game in hand over 18th-placed Burnley and have played two fewer matches than Watford and Norwich City in 19th and 20th place, respectively.
Lampard will be relying on the likes of Dele to haul Everton, who have never been relegated from the Premier League, away from the drop zone over the coming weeks.
Dele didn’t get the chance to say a proper goodbye to Tottenham’s fans before his January exit – but Lloris made sure the England international was given an overdue send-off from the Spurs faithful after Monday’s game.
Alasdair Gold, football.london’s Tottenham correspondent, posted a photo of Lloris leading Dele over to Tottenham’s fans after full-time.
“Lovely moment as Hugo Lloris takes Dele Alli over to say a proper goodbye to the Spurs fans,” Gold tweeted.
