Tottenham Hotspur have no plans to re-sign Gareth Bale

Tottenham Hotspur have no plans to sign Gareth Bale for a third time as the Welshman contemplates where he will prepare for the Qatar World Cup.

Bale is a free agent after his Real Madrid contract expired at the end of the season and must now find a new club to remain fit ahead of the World Cup finals, for which Wales have qualified for the first time since 1958.

Bale insisted he has “loads” of offers following his Real exit, but they are not thought to include Spurs, where he played for six years before rejoining the London club on loan two years ago.

The 32-year-old scored 16 goals while on loan at Tottenham during the 2020/21 season, but it is understood that he does not figure among the players targeted by head coach Antonio Conte and managing director of football Fabio Paratici.

While chairman Daniel Levy instigated the move to re-sign Bale on loan two years ago, it is not expected he will act against the plans of Conte and Paratici to make another move for the former Southampton player.

That means that Bale will have to consider offers from elsewhere, with an emotional move to Championship club Cardiff City already touted due to the fact he was born and raised in the Welsh capital.

DC United are thought to be interested in taking Bale to the MLS, while the actor Rob McElhenney, who is a co-owner at Wrexham, jokingly suggested the National League club could offer him a new home.

Bale and his agent Jonathan Barnett had always insisted that he would not consider his club future until Wales had completed their World Cup qualification campaign and the pair will now assess his offers and discuss his next move.
