Tottenham 'hopeful' £250k-a-week man 'will remain' at Hotspur Way

Tottenham are hopeful that manager Antonio Conte will remain at Hotspur Way, says journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 53-year-old has been linked with a return to Juventus as the pressure continues to mount on Massimiliano Allegri.

According to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, Juventus have been in contact with Conte as they consider replacing Allegri.

The Old Lady have made an underwhelming start to the new Serie A season, taking 10 points from seven games, which has left them in eighth place.

Juventus have also lost their first two Champions League games, so it is no surprise that Allegri is now fighting for his job.

If Juventus do decide to part ways with Allegri, it looks like they could turn to Conte. O’Rourke, however, says Tottenham are hopeful that they can keep hold of him.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Tottenham, they obviously would like to tie down Antonio Conte to a new contract. These rumours of Juventus won’t go away, but I’m pretty sure that the club are hopeful that he will remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.”

In the middle of the season, probably not, especially with the Italian seeming pretty content with life in north London right now.

“I’m happy, I’m happy,” the former Inter Milan and Juventus boss told football.london at the end of July.

“For sure we want to continue to improve, to build something important for this club,” he later went on to add. “If the idea continues to be in this way, there will be zero problems to continue my life in Tottenham because I stay well and I like this group of players and I have a good relationship with [Fabio] Paratici and with Daniel Levy.

“I repeat that I’m not a coach who needs to sign a contract for money.
