Tottenham fans 'still unsure' over £25m emerging Spurs talent

Tottenham fans are still unsure whether Ryan Sessegnon is a better option at left wing-back than Sergio Reguilon, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The pair have been battling it out to be Antonio Conte’s first-choice, although Sessegnon has been the Italian’s preferred option in recent weeks.

Having been virtually a spectator for the majority of his Tottenham career, Sessegnon is finally getting his first proper chance to prove his worth since he made the £25m move from Fulham more than two-and-a-half years ago.

Initially, it looked like being a familiar story this season after the 21-year-old missed the opening four months with a hamstring problem.

However, since returning before Christmas, Sessegnon has become a big part of Conte’s plans and made his sixth consecutive Premier League start against Everton on Monday.

Reguilon’s absence against Manchester City has helped his case, but the Spaniard has been available for the last four games in league and cup, although Conte has still favoured the ex-Fulham youngster.

And Sessegnon has repaid his faith by claiming an assist for Matt Doherty against Leeds before setting up the opener in the victory over the Toffees after his early cross was turned into his own net by Michael Keane.

Despite his recent revival under Conte, Jones reckons that some of the Spurs faithful remain unconvinced by Sessegnon.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “There’s still a few fans that are unsure whether he should be first-choice ahead of Reguilon, but he’s trying and is working hard at doing so.”
