Tottenham fans pile in as Nottingham Forest transfer claims emerge

Confusion reins over Nottingham Forest after mixed reports surrounding the future of Reds target Djed Spence, but Tottenham Hotspur fans have a simple demand for boss Antonio Conte.

The 21-year-old established himself as one of England's brightest young talents whilst on-loan with the Reds last season; Steve Cooper had hoped to sign Spence permanently, but reports claim he has been pipped to the wing-back's services.

Spence contributed two goals and five assists in the Championship last term and very quickly became a fan-favourite among Forest fans whilst at the City Ground.

Despite having an interest in signing Spence permanently, it seems the Reds have been beaten to the signature of the England Under-21 international. According to The Guardian, Spurs have agreed a deal worth around £20m for the Middlesbrough wing-back.

Our colleagues at Football.London, meanwhile, are reporting that developments regarding the youngster - who has been watched personally by Spurs director of football Fabio Paratici - are expected over the next 72 hours. They add that Spence is not keen on signing for a big team only to then be loaned out elsewhere.

Transfers expert Fabrizio Romano adds further information by saying that a full agreement has not yet been met and that a few clubs remain interested and hopeful of signing the youth international.

The wing-back's insistence of not being second-fiddle to someone would have given Forest hope of wrapping up a permanent deal. But the lure of possible European club football - Spurs boss Antonio Conte is building a squad to compete for Champions League qualification - may have been too good to turn down for the 21-year-old.
