Tottenham could spend more than £100m under Antonio Conte this summer

Tottenham Hotspur granting new manager Antonio Conte a £100 million budget in the summer would be ‘quite a big investment’, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Spurs splashed out significant sums to bring Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur in from Juventus on transfer deadline day during the January window, but more signings are expected to follow.

Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium dugout back in November after a poor start to the season with the capital club languishing in ninth position in the Premier League standings.

However, despite going unbeaten in the Italian tactician’s opening nine top-flight games at the helm, Spurs’ form has dropped off dramatically of late.

The humiliating 1-0 defeat to Championship side Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fifth round last time out condemned Conte’s charges to their fifth defeat in their last eight fixtures in all competitions.

It’s a run that has left the north London outfit sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table, six points behind Arsenal, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

According to Transfermarkt, since the beginning of 2019/20, Tottenham have spent around £318 million on transfers, while bringing in just over £165 million
