Tottenham 'could land' 111-cap star this summer

Tottenham could sign Juventus full-back Juan Cuadrado this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Cuadrado previously had a brief stint in the Premier League at Chelsea, and O’Rourke has suggested that he could be tempted to return to London ahead of next season.

The 33-year-old has spent the last seven years at Juventus, including an initial two-year loan spell, but his contract is set to expire in June.

It is understood that the player himself would like to extend his deal to remain in Turin, yet the clock is ticking for him to complete negotiations with his current employers.

If he cannot come to an agreement with Juventus, Tottenham have emerged as a potential suitor for Cuadrado, and they have reportedly got in touch with his agent to gauge the player’s availability.

O’Rourke believes Spurs have a chance of getting a deal over the line for Cuadrado, and he has spoken positively about the 111-cap international, highlighting his versatility and experience as key qualities.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O’Rourke said: “Cuadrado could be somebody they could land this summer, and he can play in so many different roles as well. He can play as a right wing-back or further up as a winger as well. He’s got loads of experience of playing at the highest level.”

As O’Rourke mentioned, Cuadrado would be perfectly capable of playing as a right winger in Antonio Conte’s preferred 3-4-3 system.

However, it seems more likely that the Italian coach would want to use him as a wing-back instead, given the issues this position has caused Spurs this season.
