Tottenham could have own Cristiano Ronaldo situation by sealing Gareth Bale return
Cristiano Ronaldo’s underwhelming return to Manchester United shows why Tottenham Hotspur would be wrong to welcome Gareth Bale back to north London in the summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Ronaldo headed back to Old Trafford last August but the Red Devils are not in the Premier League title race and Spurs have been linked with a similar move for one of their former stars.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has all but confirmed Bale will leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season after suggesting the winger ‘wants to end his time here as he deserves’.
Bale’s contract, worth an eye-watering £528,000-per-week, expires in the summer and he has been in a position to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs since the turn of the year.
Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed Spurs have already taken advantage of the situation and the 100-cap Wales international has penned a deal to return to his former employers ahead of next season.
The report suggests Bale will bag a signing bonus by heading back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Should the move come off, the 32-year-old would leave Real Madrid having won a host of trophies, including four Champions Leagues and two La Liga crowns, as well as scoring 106 goals.

Jones believes striking a deal to take Bale back to Tottenham would have major similarities to the fanfare which came with Ronaldo returning to Manchester United last year.
However, the transfer insider feels Bale is not the answer as Spurs head coach Antonio Conte seeks silverware.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I do compare that to Ronaldo at Manchester United because I don’t think you’re going to get the same
