Tottenham: Conte 'keen' on new forward as £50m star linked to Hotspur Way

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is keen to bring a new striker to Hotspur Way this summer, claims Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The north London club are currently being linked with both Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Everton’s Richarlison.

According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham are battling it out with their north London rivals Arsenal for Jesus’ signature.

The same outlet states that Arsenal are close to meeting City’s £50m valuation of the player, but Spurs are not giving up yet and have made a move to steal the 25-year-old away from their neighbours.

Jesus is not the only Brazilian Tottenham are thought to be interested in, though, with reports suggesting that they are also keen on Richarlison.

As per the MailOnline, London’s top three clubs all hold an interest in the Everton forward, who is expected to cost over £50m if he does depart Goodison Park this summer.

Brown has told GIVEMESPORT that Conte wants to add a new striker to his squad to support and challenge Harry Kane.

Speaking to GMS, the Daily Star journalist said: “Conte’s been quite keen to get a genuine centre-forward into the club to play with and rival Kane, which would also kind of act as a bit of insurance if Kane does at some point leave anytime in the next couple of years.

“But that kind of player is very expensive and would expect to play alongside Kane rather than just as his understudy.”

All things considered, you would probably have to say Richarlison. When it comes to Jesus, Arsenal have the upper hand because they can offer the City star guaranteed starts, and as a striker, following the exits of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
